Design Dilemma Solved: A modern and fresh tangerine Living room.

Design Plan for: Living Room
Client: MJ

MJ recently moved into her first apartment. A fixer-up with good bones and a lot of potential. She asked me to help her pull together a fresh and modern look for her living room that would tie into the citrus colored walls she had recently painted, all while keeping with her very limited budget. I gladly went to work on solving her Design Dilemma.

Here is her Before Picture:

My first suggestion was for her to paint out all of the dark trim in her living room with a bright white, the contrast would make everything brighter and  lighter. Using her selected wall color as my foundation, I began looking for very affordable seating options as she has yet to purchase furniture. I found a sofa on Craig's List in excellent condition for an amazing price. It happened to be in a gorgeous true gray, and using these two colors, I went to work selecting the rest of the fundamental items for this space:

A graphic rug with a functional dark gray color.

Roman Shades in a bright white for privacy and function.

A nickel-finish pendant lamp for additional lighting.

A fine-art print  from my Art Shop for that pop of color and personality.

As well as some graphic throw pillows that will tie everything together.

All of this for mere pennies.
